Paul Midgley has yet to finalise his team for the Investec Dash – which he has won twice in recent seasons.

Desert Law triumphed for the yard in 2015, while Tanasoq was successful last year.

Tarboosh is a possible again, along with Tanasoq and Line Of Reason – but Midgley’s plans for next month’s big sprint handicap at Epsom could revolve around the presence or otherwise of Mick Appleby’s veteran top-weight Caspian Prince, another former winner.

“I’m not sure what we’ll be running yet,” said Midgley.

“Tarboosh wants dig in the ground, but they never let it get fast at Epsom.

“It probably all depends on if Caspian Prince runs. If he does, that keeps the weights down, and a lot of those lower down will be out of the handicap.”

Midgley will be doing some late number-crunching before confirming his runners.

“Tarboosh in on 9st 3lb at the minute, and that would be tempting to run him off, but I wouldn’t be as keen off 9st 10lb,” added the North Yorkshire trainer.

“Tanasoq had a little setback after he won, but he seems fine again now. I hope we’ll get those two there, maybe Line Of Reason – and I’d love Merry Banter to get in.

“If she got in and had a high draw she’d take some pegging back, but ideally she’d need to win (at Redcar) on Monday or Caspian to come out to get a run, so we’ll see.”
