Amazon Prime Day date confirmed for its longest sale yet on these days

The official Amazon Prime Day 2019 dates have been announced, and just as we’d suspected, it’s happening bang in the middle of July, beginning July 15 and ending the next day on July 16.

Last year we had a huge 36 hours of deals, but Amazon has given Prime Day an even bigger upgrade. That’s right folks, we’re looking at a whopping 48-hour sale this time. Kicking off at 00:01 on Monday morning and running straight through Tuesday makes this the biggest Amazon Prime Day sale ever.

Expect fresh deals going live throughout, including Lightning Deals that’ll flash past before you’ve even had time to check out the competition – which is usually left wanting on Prime Day to be honest. Although we’ve got a feeling a few stores, Walmart especially, might try and up their game this year. We’ll let you know what the competition gets up to as well.

Amazon Prime Day deals already live

Amazon is previewing what will be on sale, and has already launched early deals – and naturally, it’s touting its own products or partners’ products first, along with some discounts for on-demand movies. You will have to be a Prime member to enjoy these deals though.

Not signed up to Amazon Prime yet? You could grab a 30-day free trial right now, which will last you through Prime Day and enable you to enjoy the sale’s exclusive discounts and you can enjoy loads of movie/TV content on the streaming service while you wait too.

As for today’s pre-launch deals, in the US you can save $120 on the newly announced Toshiba HD 43-inch Fire TV Edition Smart TV – it’s now just $179.99, and will almost certainly be a hot seller.

In the UK, Amazon is offering a refurbished Amazon Echo Show Gen 1 speaker (the first Echo to have a screen) for £79.99 – it was £179.99 originally which was way too high really. That’s a shocking deal to be honest and not in a good way. You could see prices that low for the newer and non-refurb model around Prime Day, especially if Amazon wants to fight off competition from the often-discounted Google Nest Hub (formerly known as the Google Home Hub) and the new Echo Show 5. We’re hoping Amazon steps up its game on the day for sure as this isn’t the best start. We’ll be rounding up all the best UK Prime Day deals for you as well as those US offers.

Expect big Prime Day deals on Amazon products

What will be on sale for Prime Day on July 15 and 16? Amazon says Prime members will also see dramatic deals on Alexa-enabled devices, claiming they’ll be the “biggest Prime Day deals ever” on such hardware.

That of course foreshadows big price drops on Amazon Echo speakers, the Amazon Fire TV line, and Amazon Kindle and Fire Tablet devices. Amazon also owns Whole Foods, and last year Prime Day deals extended to the US grocery chain, so expect more of the same there, too.

In total, there will be more than one million deals globally, according to Amazon, and they’ll launch throughout the 48-hour event.

Amazon intends to keep you coming back to its website for two straight days, though you can always follow our Amazon Prime Day 2019 guide for a curated list of the best deals.
