Manhattan DA charged woman with falsely reporting an incident.

Amy Cooper, the white woman who was filmed threatening to call the police on a Black bird watcher in Central Park in May, has been charged by the Manhattan district attorney.

“Today our Office initiated a prosecution of Amy Cooper for Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Third Degree,” Manhattan DA Cy Vance said in a statement.

The incident took place on Memorial Day when Christian Cooper, 57, a member of the New York City Audubon Society board of directors, was watching birds and discovered a dog was off it leash and tearing through vegetation. Christian Cooper told the dog’s owner, Amy Cooper, 40, that it needed a leash and tried to lure the dog away from the plant with some treats.
