Walmart's second Black Friday sale is live
* Great discounts on appliances at Amazon

Welcome back to our live Black Friday 2022 coverage. Although the big day is not yet here there are already thousands of Black Friday deals to sift through in the US and UK. Below you'll find our favorites right now from some of the biggest brands, as well as the latest news about Black Friday.

In the US, Black Friday sales are now live at most major retailers. Amazon's early Black Friday sale is well underway, and Walmart is in week two of its Black Friday sale –  which included the first decent Apple Watch 8 deal we've seen.

Plenty of bargains are available in the UK too, but unfortunately there are warnings that your deliveries may be delayed. Even though Royal Mail is the only courier with strike action planned over the Black Friday period right now, other delivery companies have said they may struggle to handle the extra demand this will cause. As such, you may find your orders take longer to reach you than normal, so make sure you plan accordingly.

The good news is that we're seeing a strong crop of deals this year, so read on and we'll highlight the best ones as we find them.

Beats studio buds price deals sales

Beats Studio Buds get a $50 price cut before Black Friday

Let's start with a great headphones deal. The Beats Studio Buds are easily the best-sounding earbuds Beats has ever made and earned 4/5 stars in our Beats Studio Buds review. They’re comfortable, sound great and have active noise cancellation.

OK, so their call quality isn't perfect and they're missing Apple's H1 Wireless Chip. But at $99.99 – which is their current price at Amazon, down from $149.95 – they're a lot cheaper than Apple's AirPods Pro 2, which cost $234. We think they're an absolute bargain for a premium pair of noise-canceling earbuds.

Jeff Bezos waving his hand

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has some surprising Black Friday advice for prospective shoppers: slow things down a little.

When asked by CNN (via The Telegraph) whether people should carry on as normal or if they should “batten down the hatches” with the increasingly difficult financial situation many of us are finding ourselves in, Jeff Bezos said that people should “take some risk off the table.”

He added, “If you're an individual and you're thinking about buying a new large-screen TV, maybe slow that down. Keep that cash, see what happens. Same thing with a refrigerator or a new car, or whatever.”

While that advice is certainly nothing groundbreaking, it is interesting to hear it coming from the founder of the world’s largest online retailer ahead of the biggest shopping event of the year. Even more so considering that Amazon has faced a much more difficult year than normal – now more than ever it likely needs shoppers browsing its Black Friday deals.

Regardless of his reasoning behind the statement, Bezos’ words ring true; with energy prices and inflation on the rise money is tight and we’d definitely recommend thinking twice before buying a new gadget. If it is something you desperately need then Black Friday is a great time to pick it up at a bargain price, but if you can hold off for a few more months or even another year you likely won’t regret it.

Though for those of you looking for a bargain we'll be here to collect all of the best deals we can find online.

7 of the best Black Friday deals in the UK

What are some of the best Black Friday deals in the UK right now? Here are a few that stood out to our deals experts…

Sony WF-C500 True Wireless Earbuds: was £90 now £49 at Amazon
Under intense review, we called these Sony earbuds “great value for money” – but that was at the full asking price. With 45% off, we think they’re an absolute steal and then some. Yes, 20 hours of battery life can be bettered – but 10 hours from the buds alone certainly can’t at this price point. They’re also light and comfortable, providing an exciting, musical sound. Oh, and they’ve only been this cheap once before. View Deal

A person carrying a box with an Oculus Quest 2 VR headset in

(Image credit: Shutterstock / Boumen Japet)

There's just one more day to go until the Oculus Quest 2 (Meta's best VR headset) will be part of its biggest-ever Black Friday deal.

Starting tomorrow (November 18) Meta will be selling the Oculus Quest 2 for $349.99 and $429.99 for the 128GB and 256GB models respectively – and we're expecting it'll be £349.99 and £429.99 in the UK, though Meta has yet to confirm our suspicions. While it's technically still going to be more expensive than its pre-August 2022 price (when it was $100 / $100 less before its massive price hike) there's more to this deal than meets the eye.

That's because you'll not only get the VR headset, but you'll also get two free games: Beat Saber and Resident Evil 4 VR (usually worth $70 / £53 together).

Beat Saber is effectively a crossover between Guitar Hero and Star Wars. While jamming out to your favorite tunes from artists like Lizzo, The Weekend, Linkin Park, and LMFAO you have to slice notes in time to the music as they fly past. Do well and you might get a new high score, but if you fail the music will stop. It's a lot of fun and a great way to get active.

Resident Evil 4 VR on the other hand is an immersive remake of the classic action horror game. Just like the original on the GameCube, the gameplay is superb with RE 4 VR managing to strike the perfect balance between making you feel like a badass while also keeping the stress levels appropriately high as you fight off hordes of monsters. This is the best way to experience the iconic Capcom game, and it's perfect for newcomers and longtime fans alike.

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Chromebook against a red background.

Want a super-cheap laptop that isn't super-ugly? This Lenovo Chromebook deal at Walmart in the US is the way to go according to one of our experts.

Unfortunately a lot of this year's early bird deals aren't that impressive but this deal on Lenovo's IdeaPad 3 Chromebook is a cut above the rest. What makes this such a good deal? Well, it's a full two-thirds down from the current retail price of $300, bringing it down to just $99 at Walmart

You shouldn't expect this to be the flashiest laptop on the planet, but it looks a heck of a lot better than the average $99 laptop. At this special Black Friday price, the IdeaPad 3 Chromebook puts our normal ranking of the best cheap laptops to shame.

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Chromebook: was $300 now $99 at Walmart
Holy moly! This might be the best Black Friday Chromebook deal we’ve seen yet. Two-thirds shaved off the price of this budget Chrome laptop from Lenovo! Yes, the specs are fairly modest, but the IdeaPad 3 will do just fine for low-intensity office tasks or schoolwork.View Deal

I've not been able to take my eyes off the iPad Air (2022) deals at Amazon in the UK. The latest generation of Apple's mid-range tablets includes an M1-chip – helping it to serve up a laptop-class performance at a fairly budget-friendly price. Plus it comes with a 12MP ultra wide front and and a 12MP wide back camera to be able to take some fairly decent snaps too

Every single version of the iPad Air (2022) is discounted at Amazon right now, but my favorite is the cheapest one: you can get the 64GB Wi-Fi only model for £569 (saving you £100). But if you want the extra storage space the 256GB iPad Air (2022) is only £719 (instead of £849) which is another big saving.

My girlfriend really wants an iPad and everyday that I see this deal I edge one step closer to hitting Buy Now and getting it for her.

iPad Air (2022): was £669 now £569 at Amazon
Apple’s latest iPad Air fixes the shortcomings of its predecessor and serves up laptop-class M1 power too. Amazon’s Black Friday deal push the price of every model down to the lowest prices we’ve seen, but this £100 saving on the 64GB Wi-Fi only model is definitely the best bang for your buck.View Deal

Ending today – Samsung's excellent early Black Friday phone deals

Cue sad music please – one of the best early-bird sales you'll find anywhere online in the US is ending today. You've only got a few hours left to take advantage of the official Samsung Store's excellent range of discounts on its high-end smartphones. Here's a quick selection of the best deals:

Samsung Galaxy S22 series: up to $225 off, plus up to $600 off with trade-in at Samsung
TechRadar readers are among the lucky few to get semi-exclusive access to Samsung’s Black Friday deals this year. Up for grabs right now is an awesome lineup of an upfront saving of up to $225 and an enhanced trade-in rebate of up to $600 – both of which can be combined for a truly awesome discount on either a carrier or unlocked device. These are some of the lowest prices we’ve seen on unlocked devices in particular, so this early access sale is well worth checking out.
Galaxy S22: $799 $99
Galaxy S22 Plus: $1,149 $299
Galaxy S22 Ultra:
$1,349 $379View Deal

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: $450 off, plus up to $1,000 off with a trade-in at Samsung
Samsung’s offering its best deal this year so far with its new Black Friday promotion on the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Not only can you get a huge trade-in rebate of up to $1,000 on both carrier or unlocked devices, but you’ll also get an upfront discount of up to $250, depending on what storage option you go for. While we’ve seen devices bundled in with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 before, this is easily the best straight discount we’ve seen since the device was launched.View Deal

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: $250 off, plus up to $600 off with a trade-in at Samsung
Alternatively, those with shallower pockets could consider the smaller (and way cheaper) Galaxy Z Flip 4. This excellent clamshell foldable is also available with a handy upfront discount and an additional trade-in rebate of up to $600 off. Again, outside of the major carriers, this is easily one of the best rebates you’ll find out there right now – especially on an unlocked device.View Deal

Will they be back again next week? It's hard to say, but we think it's fairly likely considering these devices are the flagships from the brand. Samsung may tweak up the formula, or offer something a little different like freebies on the pricier devices. Last year, we saw free smartwatches and even a free Chromebook being given away with some models – although the upfront discounts weren't quite as good as the outgoing deals this week.

Either way, bookmark our Samsung Black Friday deals page if you're interested in more specific coverage from this merchant. Hopefully we'll have plenty more excellent deals on smartphones, TVs, and Galaxy Watches just around the corner…

Two Google Pixel 6a phones on a table

The Google Pixel 6a is at its lowest ever price in the UK

The official Google Store in the UK has launched its Black Friday sale today and it's offering – among other things – an absolutely awesome deal for those on the hunt for a reasonably priced Android flagship.

Google Pixel 6a: was £399 now £299 at Google
The Google Pixel 6a is now at its lowest-ever price in the UK right now thanks to a hefty £100 price cut from the official vendor. If the upfront saving wasn’t enough here, you can also supplement your discount even further by trading in an old device, getting up to £325 back via rebate. With a speedy Tensor chip, excellent camera, and eye-catching design, the Google Pixel 6a is an absolute steal at this price point.View Deal

We were a little on the fence when we reviewed the Google Pixel 6a earlier this year, namely because of the fairly high asking price at launch. With this deal, that complaint is very much out the window now.

At £299, you're getting a really powerful Tensor chip (the same as the Pixel 6's), a great camera system, and a design that's easy on the eye. Slight drawbacks include a plastic shell (as opposed to the Pixel 6's glass), and a 60Hz display, which is a little sluggish compared to some mid-range devices. For outright features though, this one's a real winner for the price and a great buy if you're on a budget.

Tik-Tokkers are going crazy for this obscure gaming console

According to a reliable source – who may or may not be someone sitting next to me in the office – the 'Kids' are going crazy for a handheld gaming console called Powkiddy right now.

I have to admit – my alarm bells are ringing with this one. I've seen cheap emulators like this crop up over the years and they're always a little rough and ready (not to mention, sometimes loaded up with unlicensed games).

Overall, It's either a fad throwaway toy or an awesome little deal for those with a taste for retro games. Sitting at $99 puts this one at the cusp between “why not” and “expensive stocking filler” for me. Your mileage may vary.

Powkiddy Handheld Game Console Retro Game Player: $99.99 at Walmart
If you want to get your hands on this year’s hottest gift, Walmart currently has the PowKiddy handheld gaming console in stock for $99.99. The best-selling retro game player includes a 64GB game card with over 15,000 games included, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you can plug in headphones and enjoy the game wherever you are.View Deal

We haven't personally reviewed this device at TechRadar, but the specialist gaming site RetroDodo has done a fairly detailed run-down of the device that's well worth checking out. Overall, the biggest selling point for this device appears to be the display, which does look pretty rad from the pictures.

Glancing at the above Walmart listing, it appears that this particular Powkiddy model comes with 15,000 pre-loaded games that “Recalls your childhood memory”. According to the RetroDodo review, this includes everything from old-school 16-bit games to Dreamcast games. Unsurprisingly for a device with 1GB of RAM and a 1.5Ghz processor, it doesn't appear to handle the latter particularly well.

As always with these emulators, you can load up your own games. Just remember that it's illegal to share and download ROMs on the internet unless you specifically own that game. It's a very, very grey area with these devices, so definitely read this excellent post from HowToGeek on the legality of ROMS.

iPad 10.2 2020

If you've been holding off on buying a tablet, now might be your time. Apple's iPad 10.2 is on sale at Best Buy for $269.99, that's about $60 off its original $329 price.

I know, this is not the sexy, new iPad 10.9 that Apple introduced just a few months ago, but that lovely device, which I admittedly really liked, is also, at $449, the most expensive base iPad in ages.

This slab, which is well under $300, offers many of the same core features as its more expensive counterpart, but they're all running on an older – though still peppy- A13 Bionic. We still have a couple of models like this around my house and love them.

I'd argue this is a perfect gift for a student or youngster who wants to play games, watch videos and, if you throw in a $99 Apple Pencil (supported, of course), draw for hours.

Naturally, there's a timestamp on this deal. It ends on Nov. 19 (well before the real Black Friday). You could wait and see if there's a better deal in the offing, but my guess is that older models = limited supplies.

If you still want the bleeding edge iPad, there are deals to be found there, too.

Apple iPad 10.2 Wi-Fi 64GB – Silver: $329.99, now $269.99 at Best Buy

Not the latest or greatest iPad, but a tablet that promises an excellent build, good performance, and a lot of versatility. It’s ready for gaming, browsing, TV, creation, and even video editing. This is the lowest price we’ve seen on this model iPad and with it being a last-gen model, it’s unlikely supplies will be that deep. Not that this is the best model with just 64GB of storage and Wi-Fi only. If your storage needs are greater or your need to connect while on the road, you might want to upgrade to a newer or more full-featured iPad.

Adata 1 TB

The deal drives a solid-state bargain

Remember when none of us could get a PS5? I remember people texting and calling me, assuming I had the inside track, on how to get a PlayStation 5 for their child.

Sadly, I couldn't help any of them. These days, PS5's gaming consoles are no less desirable, but there do seem to be decent supplies. And that means we can think about other gaming components – that connect to the PS5, of course.

Let's assume that last year or sometime in the last 12 months you got your child a PS5 and now they're complaining about the lack of storage (the PS5 starts with 667GB of usable storage). They need an external storage option.

Good news. It looks like early Black Friday Deals have you covered. Granted, I've never heard of the Adata brand, but our pals at TRG vouch for the speed of the 1TB PS5 SSD that's selling for just $89.99 at Amazon.

That's a really good price for that much storage. Sounds like a decent stocking stuffer to me. – LU

Adata Premium SSD for PS5 1TB | $89.99 at Amazon
We haven’t seen a PS5 SSD available in the 1TB configuration retail for under $100 before, making this Adata Premium model well worth considering for those on a budget. It’s no slouch in the speed department either, as it’s rated at up to 6,100 MB/s read speeds, more than enough to match the internal storage drive.

Echo Dot 3

Dot's the one

Like clockwork, Amazon has started lowering (dare I say cratering) the price of its popular Echo Dot speaker. The 3rd-gen Echo Dot is just $14.99 at Amazon.com. That's among the lowest price we've seen and what you might call the impulse-purchase level. It's not the newest Echo Dot – there isn't even a clock readout under that mesh, but in our original review, we applauded it for clear call quality and a good design.

I've always liked the Echo Dot because it's small, smart, and ever since the fabric redesign, not bad to look at either. Now, to be fair, some people find devices that you can almost hide away and that are always listening for their name a little off-putting, but I appreciate ready access to answers and, of course, music.

Speaking of music, the cool thing about introducing an Echo Dot to your home now is that, assuming you have Amazon Prime (why have a Dot if you don't?), you now get access to Amazon Prime Music's complete library. That's a lot of holiday music.

Echo Dot (3rd Gen) Smart Speaker: $49.99 $14.99 at Amazon
This early black Friday deal from Amazon slashes the best-selling Echo Dot to just $14.99 – the lowest price we’ve ever seen. The best-selling smart speaker can play music, answer questions, check the weather and control your new smart bulb – all for under $15.View Deal

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 and Surface Pro Keyboard

On the Surface of things

True story, I am writing this deal on the very same Microsoft Surface Pro 8 that is currently on sale at Curry's for £699.

The UK retailer is selling my 2-in-1 laptop (okay, okay, not mine, but one just like mine) for one of the best discounts I've ever seen. I know, you thinking, it's just £100 pounds cheaper than the typical roughly £799 Surface Pro start price, but this sticker price includes the Surface Signature TypeCover.

For as long as I've been using and writing about Surface Pros, I've been telling people you have to buy it with the keyboard, that's how this Windows 11 PC becomes a truly useful work-and-play device. Normally the Surface Slim Pen 2 comes in with this keyboard, but there's no mention of that here, which is a shame because it'll cost you another $129.

The Core i5 in here is decent, though I prefer running a Core i7 model, and the 256GB SSD is a bit light, but this is still a cracking-good deal.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8: £1,258 £699 at Currys
Save £559 – The Surface Pro 9 might be here, but that means we’ve got a stonking great discount on this Surface Pro 8 from Currys, which comes bundled with the Signature Typecover – a mandatory inclusion for any Surface device. This model packs an 11th-gen Intel Core i5 processor and 256GB of storage.View Deal

Kindle Oasis

Reading all about it

What's great about Amazon's Kindle ereaders is that they don't do much, but what they do, they do really well.

The Oasis is perfect-built for reading and for doing it for hours on end. I know I love to take my Kindle to the beach and read for hours without a single concern that it'll run out of juice before the sun sets over the ocean. They typically have battery life that can last all week long.

The only problem with the Oasis, which has a waterproof body and a crisp 300ppi screen is that it's normally almost $300 (for the 3GB model). Best Buy's early Black Friday sale, though, puts it at just $184.99. That's the lowest price we've seen for this model.

Just keep in mind that this early deal is only on until Nov 19. Will you see cheaper Kindle Oasis readers after that? We're not sure.

Kindle Oasis (32GB): $279.99 $184.99 at Best Buy
Save $95
– This is the lowest price we’ve seen on Amazon’s fanciest Kindle, an even lower price than Amazon itself has offered. The Oasis is water resistant, even if you drop it into salt water at the beach. This model gives you plenty of storage space, but since the Oasis can use cellular networks to download new books, even prolific readers won’t run out. If you’re looking for the best Kindle around, the brightest, most comfortable ereader is a great Black Friday Kindle buy.  View Deal

The best Windows laptop just got even better
