The Wordle weekend starts with a fairly easy one that WordleBot says people are solving in an average of 3.6 guesses. That means it's a full guess easier than yesterday's puzzle!
You still might need some Wordle clues, though, because no game is ever without any risk.

We don't get many Wordle answers that start with an E – though it's the most common letter in the game, it's only the 14th most likely to begin a solution.

Repeated letters are quite common in the game, with 748 of the 2,309 Wordle answers containing one. However, it's still more likely that a Wordle doesn't have one.

Wordle today (game #630) – the answer
The answer to today's Wordle, game #630, is… EMAIL.
This isn't too difficult a solution, certainly compared to yesterday's puzzle – which was REALLY hard. (Scroll down for what happened there).
Instead, WordleBot says people are solving it in an average of 3.6 guesses, which means it's well below the norm for the game. Much of that is due to the fact that several of the best Wordle starting words narrowed things down considerably today. For instance, WordleBot's favorite, SLATE, left just eight possible solutions, and my choice of STARE reduced it to 10. CRANE (20), SLANT (20) and TRACE (9) were also all very helpful.
I pretty much knew what my 10 options were for my second guess, because the game played out the same way as it had for HEADY a few weeks ago (game #601) and I still had my notes scrawled down from then. On it were LEAKY, LEAFY, HEAVY, BEACH, LEACH, PEACH and EMAIL. WordleBot also had BEADY (which I'd dismissed as a previous answer) and MEALY.
I couldn't guarantee a 3/6 with those words, but by playing CLIMB I would get close; if the answer was LEAKY or LEAFY I'd still have faced a 50/50 for the next guess. As it happens, that wasn't necessary – the L, I and M all turned yellow, meaning the answer had to be EMAIL.

Wordle yesterday (game #629) – the answer
The answer to yesterday's Wordle, game #629, was… REVEL.
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday, I scored a 2/6 in what was one of the easier puzzles we've had recently. Today, I scraped home with my first 5/6 in a while, and I suspect some of you will have fared worse still.
REVEL is a difficult answer, for sure. WordleBot says people are solving it in an average of 4.6 – which means it's the hardest puzzle since the monumentally tough RIPER in late February (game #613) and quite possibly the second hardest since JUDGE way back on Christmas Day.
So, what's the problem? Well, it's fourfold.
For starters, that V is annoying. V is not particularly common in Wordle – in fact it's the fifth least likely letter to appear in an answer, ahead of only Z, X, Q and J. There are only 152 of them across the game's 2,308 solutions, so you'd only expect one about every 15 games or so… and I didn't expect one today.
Secondly, this is a word that has lots of similarly spelled alternatives. Even if you had RE-EL in place you could potentially choose between REBEL, REPEL and REVEL. Or you might be been picking from LEVEL, BEVEL, and REVEL. And earlier in the game, it was harder still, with many of the best Wordle starting words leaving dozens of possible answers. STARE, my go-to option, left a whopping 181; WordleBot's pick, SLATE, left 95, CRANE was 187, SLANT was 197, TRACE was 171 and CARTE was 163. No relief there with any of them.
Third, well, REVEL is not the most obvious word in the dictionary. If you're faced with the choice I was then REBEL definitely makes more sense.
And finally, there's yet another repeated E in there, just as there was with WHERE yesterday. No, a repeated E isn't that uncommon and no, it didn't make yesterday's game too difficult, but it still throws another problem into the mix.
With all those options to sift through following STARE, I played a second word that I knew wasn't right but which would hopefully rule out a bunch of options: LINED. This did the trick, reducing those possible answers from 181 to just 10 (according to WordleBot) or seven by my reckoning (I missed FLYER, UCLER and, um, OGLER).
Playing REBEL was a calculated move that would possibly get me a 3/6 and would guarantee I scored no lower than 5/6; if I'd guessed some of the other options on my list, for instance RULER, GRUEL or CRUEL, I might have ended up with a 6/6.
Unfortunately, my luck had now run out. The answer wasn't REBEL, and nor was it REPEL, meaning I ended up instead with a disappointing 5/6. But I bet I'm not the only one.

What is Wordle?
If you're on this page then you almost certainly know what Wordle is already, and indeed have probably been playing it for a while. And even if you've not been playing it, you must surely have heard of it by now, because it's the viral word game phenomenon that took the world by storm last year and is still going strong in 2023.
We've got a full guide to the game in our What is Wordle page, but if you just want a refresher then here are the basics.
What is Wordle?
Wordle challenges you to guess a new five-letter word each day. You get six guesses, with each one revealing a little more information. If one of the letters in your guess is in the answer and in the right place, it turns green. If it’s in the answer but in the wrong place, it turns yellow. And if it’s not in the answer at all it turns gray. Simple, eh?
It’s played online via the Wordle website or the New York Times’ Crossword app (iOS / Android), and is entirely free.
Crucially, the answer is the same for everyone each day, meaning that you’re competing against the rest of the world, rather than just against yourself or the game. The puzzle then resets each day at midnight in your local time, giving you a new challenge, and the chance to extend your streak.
What are the Wordle rules?
The rules of Wordle are pretty straightforward, but with a couple of curveballs thrown in for good measure.
1. Letters that are in the answer and in the right place turn green.
2. Letters that are in the answer but in the wrong place turn yellow.
3. Letters that are not in the answer turn gray.
4. Answers are never plural.
5. Letters can appear more than once. So if your guess includes two of one letter, they may both turn yellow, both turn green, or one could be yellow and the other green.
6. Each guess must be a valid word in Wordle’s dictionary. You can’t guess ABCDE, for instance.
7. You do not have to include correct letters in subsequent guesses unless you play on Hard mode.
8. You have six guesses to solve the Wordle.
9. You must complete the daily Wordle before midnight in your timezone.
10. All answers are drawn from Wordle’s list of 2,309 solutions. However…
11. Wordle will accept a wider pool of words as guesses – some 10,000 of them. For instance, you can guess a plural such as WORDS. It definitely won’t be right (see point 4 above), but Wordle will accept it as a guess.
